Chheda Lal Jitendra Goyal is a small and simple Sweet Shop located at the bank of the River Ganges in Brajghat, Uttar Pradesh, India. This small venture was established in 1958, by a local resident of village Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, who came there with his co-worker & some kitchen utensils in his backpack. The first thing they threw in their bucket list was to provide every visitor an Indian food Thali wholly prepared in Desi-Ghee with an extremely rich taste and homely flavor. Avoiding any mess in the menu for their sweet shop, they have added very limited items to it. The thing that makes them unique is the purity and hygiene of the place and the workers. Also, the perfect flavors satiate your taste buds at a very reasonable price.

The Sweet Shop is being run by the Grandsons of Chheda Lal Jitendra Goyal.
Even the Halwai currently working in the Sweet Shop is the son of the Halwai who used to work there before.
They're continuing the legacy of their forefathers and would probably keep doing so.
According to the Locals & Brahmins at the Ghat, there has been no change in the taste of the food even though the people cooking it has changed.

The Halwai of Chheda Lal was a Brahmin who was known for his cooking enthusiasm and made the dishes without Onion and Garlic. They are still continuing with this practice of making food without Onion and Garlic and a Pure vegetarian one.
According to Indian mythology, a kitchen is a sacred place.

The first food prepared in the morning shift and the first in the evening shift is always served to God and then sold to the customers.

The Ambiance at Chheda Lal’s

Chheda Lal Jitender Goyal founder & Sons have not upgraded their shop's infrastructure. The Shop looks the same as it did in the initial days. An Old Sweetshop with limited benches & tables. This Old Fashioned Ambiance & space makes the Restaurant unique & different from Others.
One of the best things is that they keep their working place clean & tidy, and maintain a hygienic environment for customers. Also, they don't take their shoes/slippers inside the cooking area and serve customers bare feet.

Food At Chheda Lal's

Chheda Lal's Sweetshop is known for the quality of food and deliciousness in taste. Another thing that makes the sweetshop famous in their locality and among other shops/Restaurants is that every food & sweet is prepared in Pure Desi Ghee. They even Deep fry the Pooris & Jalebis in Ghee, and charge very reasonable prices for all of it Chheda Lal's Bestseller is its Indian Thali at just 65/- INR which is enough to make your tummy full.
Now the question is "What does the Thali contain???"

Anatomy Of Indian Thali

Cheda Lal's Indian Thali contains limited things on the platter, made with Pure Desi Ghee.

Aloo Sabzi (Potato Curry)

The Preparation of this Sabzi changes ina hundred meters radius. Different types of Ingredients/Other vegetables are added by people according to their taste and liking. But after a conversation with the locals and Brahmins, I got to know the taste of the curry in this shop hasn't changed a bit.

Sitaphal Sabzi (Pumpkin Curry)

This one sabzi was so delicious that I am still getting its taste in my mouth and fragrance around me as I am writing about it. Also, in the Indian Tradition, the Sitaphal Sabzi has been always served alongside the Aloo Sabzi with Poori, desserts etc on the plate.

Bedmi Poori

Poori is a very usual thing that is served with these sabzis but the thing that makes Bedmi Poori unique is its crispiness, the Moong Dal stuffing inside it and it's deep-fried texture. Being deep fried in Pure Desi Ghee makes these Poori's even more delicious.

Methi Chutney (Fenugreek Sauce)

This Sauce is being served since the establishment of this shop and has been playing a key role in this Indian Thali. This Sauce isn't that spicy and is made with a handful of home spices ground in Mortar Pestle and fried with a pinch of Hing(Asafoetida) & Dried Red Chilis.

Boondi Raita

A Curd beverage with Boondi added to it and some homemade spices sprinkled on top to enhance its taste. The Spices added to the curd are Hing(Asafoetida), Chopped Dhania(Coriander), Kala Namak(Black Salt), Kali Mirch(Black Pepper), and Roasted & Crushed Jeera(Cumin Seed).

Chheda Lal and Sons also deal in sweets made with pure Desi Ghee & Dry Fruits. They add Desi Khandwari Sugar or Khaand to it instead of regular sugar as sweetener, and this sugar is brought from Modi Nagar, Meerut(Uttar Pradesh). Khaand is beneficial for health as it is low in Calories, and mixes with water for Chashnee(Sugar Syrup) quicker than other sugars available in the market. The sweets they prepare are- Ghevar(Seasonal), Jalebis, Mava Peda, & Suji Halwa.

Jalebi

Chheda Lal’s another delicacy is Jalebi. Swirls deep-fried in Cow’s Desi Ghee until they turn Golden in color & are half crisped. They are then soaked in Sugar syrup made with Mineral Water of Ganges & Khaand. These Jalebis are known for their Crispy & smooth texture.

Ghevar

This sweet shop sells round-shaped sweets in the months of Shravan(from July to August), the customers generally buy this sweet to gift their sister’s on Teej(Indian Festival for Sisters). This Sweet is Round in Shape & Looks like a Flat Plate, lightly slathered with Clear Chashnee(Sugar Syrup) and peeled Elaichi(Green Cardamom Pods). And then sprinkled with Chopped Pistachios & grated Coconut.

Mawa Peda

Mava Peda is made with Khoya(Boiled milk hardened in a brick) with a secret procedure & steps with adding secret Ingredients. But the main Ingredients are Milk, Khoya, Chopped Pistachios, Elaichi(Cardamom pods) to flavor and Khandwari sugar to sweeten. Pedas are small balls pressed from two sides.

Halwa

Halwa can be called Indian pudding made with Besan(Corn Flour), Sooji(Semolina), Cow’s Desi Ghee, and Desi Khandwari Sugar or Khaand. The texture of Halwa is smooth & it is usually slathered with Ghee. Besan & Sooji are mixed & Roasted together in a Kadhai(wok) with Ghee. Dry fruits & nuts are not added to the Halwa, as they may ruin the texture of this lovely & delicious dessert.

Chheda Lal Jitendra Goyal Jii gifted his legacy & most precious thing to his sons, and they’re maintaining the same legacy, taste & flavors. Maintaining the same hygiene and the same taste is not a small thing. Even with very few members in staff they proved their rivals wrong and slapped their faces with their huge achievements as the regular crowd is always buzzing on their restaurant for the Bestseller and for Sweets as well.
